"Our Love, Our Lives, Our Civil Right!"
Phoenix Pride is proud to present the 1st Annual Phoenix Pride & PROEM Wedding Expo - "OUR LOVE, OUR LIVES, OUR CIVIL RIGHT!" The purpose of this newly added venue is to draw public attention to and celebrate LGBT weddings that are occurring and will continue to occur, despite marriage discrimination practiced against us by our state and nation. Our goal is to educate and bring the visibility of the inequity of marriage rights to the forefront. The wedding expo will take place during the Phoenix Pride Festival, Saturday, April 17th and Sunday, April 18th from noon to 9PM.
The venue will encompass celebratory, educational, legal and political elements offering a variety of activities and resources representing the different perspectives of the LGBT community. Some of those offerings include:
• Pro-LGBT wedding vendors offering wedding services and supplies
• Pro-LGBT Convention Visitor Bureaus from different cities and states
• Legal and family services & seminars
• Political Advocacy groups and petitions
• Ceremonies performed onsite by local clergy
Mass Commitment Ceremony: Saturday, April 17th, 2010 at 4PM
The ceremony will take place at the Wedding Expo in the festival grounds at 4PM. This is a great way for couples to express their love for each other, defy the lawmakers that support inequality for all human beings and to receive the acknowledgment and support of the community. Though Commitment Ceremonies/Weddings for same-sex couples are currently not legally binding in the State of Arizona (we look forward to the day in the near future when they are however), our purpose for this event is to reflect, recognize, and celebrate the union of two individuals who are looking to make a public statement and commitment to each other.
Pre-registration is requested for the Mass Commitment Ceremony. You can do so by sending an email to WeddingExpo@phoenixpride.org or stopping by the Info Booth at the Festival.
Private Commitment Ceremonies: Available April 17th and 18th, All Day
What better place to profess to the world of your love for another than a Pride Festival. We will also be providing a professionally decorated upscale indoor space for couples to have their own private ceremonies. Many customized packages are available.
