Beck has been an educational theatre artist for 15 years serving as a director, playwright, collaborator and teacher. In addition to her work with youth in theatre, she provides diversity awareness trainings and theatrical instruction for schools, nonprofit organizations, community groups and businesses. Her work has been presented at the Governor’s Conference on Service in Flagstaff, AZ, the GLSEN National Summit in Phoenix AZ, the PTO Theatre Conference in Omaha, NE and the Arizona State Thespian Convention.

She has also worked as Executive Director for 1n10 Youth Services developing and facilitating programming services LGBTQ youth and allies, served as teaching artist at About Face Youth Theatre and remains an Artistic Associate with About Face Theatre in Chicago, IL. Beck is the 1998 recipient of the KC/ACTF Children’s Playwriting Award for an original children’s musical, the 2006 Arizona State University Faculty Women’s Association Distinguished Achievement Award, the 2006 Herberger College of the Arts Collegiate Community Partnership Award for a Masters Student, and was named to Echo Magazine’s Ten of Tomorrow. Beck is a member of Valley Leadership Class XXIX in Phoenix, AZ. She is the founder and director of QSpeak Theatre and developed the advisory board for the GreenHouse Project – a transitional living program for LGBTQ youth in the Phoenix Valley.

She has received recognition from local, national and international media for providing theatre as an outlet for LGBTQA youth. Beck holds a BA in Theatre and English from Doane College, is a graduate of the Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre and holds an M.F.A. in Theatre for Youth and a Masters Certification in Nonprofit Leadership and Management, both from Arizona State University.

Beck currently serves as chair of the Board Development Committee.
